What drove the creation of 3D Avionics?

Necessity is the mother of invention! 3D Avionics is the creation of Rob Rowe whose lifelong passion for aviation started with a scenic flight age 8, with Viv Bellamy, in a DH89A Dragon Rapide at Lands End airfield. Rob later gained a PPL there in the 80’s, before helping restore and fly a 1952 DH115 Vampire T.11 jet trainer operating from Hurn in the early noughties.

Meanwhile he has owned a Russian YAK-52 ex-military trainer since 1997 gaining an in-depth knowledge of the aircraft's systems from over 20 years of research and 450 hours on type. The resulting system schematics are referenced by maintenance organisations around the world and the UK’s Air Accident Investigation Board.

Richard Harder Project Propeller 2012Professionally he has had a global career in electronics & communications engineering, with many years spent in aviation IT product management.

Hence Rob brings a wide range of skills to setting up 3D Avionics, building upon first-hand knowledge of the marketplace.

Through obtaining UK approval for his YAK-52 avionics mount designs allows other owners a lower cost, time & risk route to achieve this for their aircraft.
